Pre-Sales Consultant

Pre-Sales Consultants must be able to understand customer’s existing and desired environments in order to develop a strategy for on premise and cloud/hybrid based solutions. Familiarity with Enterprise Networking is seen as central to many projects and is therefore a specific requirement. This role requires a good understanding of our entire portfolio of services coupled with the ability to translate requirements into solutions that can be managed by the operational teams.

The jobholder will be expected to maintain awareness of technology trends.

The role location is flexible between Reading, Bournemouth and Croydon office locations, travel throughout the UK will be required to perform this function.

The Pre-Sales Consultant will develop and deliver high quality technical solutions based on CORETX standard product offerings in the form of;

  • Direct engagement with corporate customers
  • Requirements capture
  • Production of High Level Design documentation
  • Indicative Cost/Pricing documentation
  • Solution Design Proposals

The Pre-Sales Consultant is responsible for the technical components of the sales process and should also have a good understanding of the commercial impact on CORETX and the customer, focussing on providing the best value for the customer whilst maximising the revenue opportunity for CORETX.

Acting as a key conduit between the Sales organisation and the Operational organisation, balancing the requirements of each with the solutions proposed with responsibility for ensuring all proposals and design documents are approved in the Bid Review Process.


Key areas of Responsibilities:

Attend customer meetings to:

  • Establish requirements from a business and technical perspective
  • Understand customer environments and the process of migrating to the new design
  • Support sales in proposing solutions and services to meet requirements
  • Maintain close working relationships with relevant contacts at all times
  • Perform product/concept demonstrations and presentations to support sales process
  • Generate professional documentation, including sales proposals, scope of works, design specifications and consultancy documents
  • Ensure that all activities are scoped and priced accurately to achieve profit projections
  • On occasions, perform fee-earning business and technical consultancy services

Attain and maintain appropriate manufacturer accreditations/certifications as required by:

  • Self study of manuals, web and appropriate text books
  • Formal training courses as agreed necessary with manager
  • Ensure that KPIs are met or exceeded
  • Other activities as deemed necessary from time to time, in keeping with the role and within experience level

  • Can present technical concepts in authoritative and clear manner to customers presenting to both a technical and non-technical audience and different roles at all organisational levels

Technology Skills:

Though not exhaustive a successful candidate should have experience and knowledge in as many of the following technology areas as possible, with a broad industry knowledge:

  • Cisco Network technologies, LAN/WAN/Wireless and Mobility
  • Microsoft applications– Skype for Business, Exchange, O365, Active Directory and Azure
  • Security solutions for enterprise, endpoint and applications
  • Device lifecycle management methodology, (Software and end user device inc MDM)
  • Managed service design and implementation
  • VMWare cloud technologies together with public cloud such as AWS and Azure
  • Business Continuity, Backup and Restore solutions, (Zerto, Datto, VEEAM etc)
  • Business voice systems, Hosted Telephony, Unified Communications, VoIP and SIP
  • Familiarity with creating and managing complex BOMs, (e.g. using Cisco Commerce Workspace)
  • Monitoring, application and performance tools
  • ITIL v3 foundation or Equivalent knowledge in service management
  • Existing Vendor accreditations an advantage, especially Cisco and Microsoft



  • GCSEs (or equivalent) grades A*- C to include Maths, English and Science
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in computer science or similar technical professional qualifications
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of IT systems and solutions
  • Experience working in a Pre-Sales role or environment
  • Working knowledge of service provider market place
  • Experience in the design of customer facing IT services and solutions
  • Ability to engage with customers professionally at all levels
  • Valid UK driving licence
